this painting was the first commission i ever did. it is also the largest painting i have done until now. i decided to paint two cans of my favorite foods from america. i called it "warhor" because painting cans of food made me feel a little like andy warhol and because taking someone's money to make art made me feel a little like a whore.
oil on canvas.
Bansky led me here but I am glad I also found this work. My art vocabulary is not the best, but I like how this pops off the canvas. And aren't all artists whores (at least to some degree)?
ReplyDelete@xavier that's something I've always agreed with. How many artists do we know who didn't paint or write music or sculpt for money. DaVinci always worked for a boss who demanded this and that. Bethooven as well. You name it. The concept of doing it for the love of it is new. Yes these masters loved what they did but a whore who loves sex is still a whore.
ReplyDeleteIf felt like a whore maybe you should have painted a couple of cans of spotted dick instead. lol
ReplyDeleteThat painting's SOUPER!!!!!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteKatie, It's not soup.
ReplyDeleteLady Ha Ha I realize it is not soup. I was making a reference to Warhol who DID paint cans of soup. Mr. Ensueno said he felt like Warhol and it is that comment that I am referring to not the actual cans in the painting.
ReplyDeleteI was just kiddin. No need to PUNish me ;)
ReplyDeleteSeeing the painting Warhol says, "Bean there, done that."
ReplyDeleteCue the canned laughter.
ReplyDeleteThen again, isn't this a painting of a bird. Two cans. Get it. Toucans.
ReplyDeleteI think you mean birds. Toucans is plural.
ReplyDelete"No need to PUNish me" LadyHaHa. (Cue the CANNED laughter).
